These words, inscribed by the original builder, on the fire place of the Manor House Living Room, describe the way we feel about this ministry today; a place of rest and renewal.
In 1973, Ron and Lorraine Hodge envisioned a place where people could come to rest, hear the message of the Gospel of Christ, grow in that faith, find fellowship with others, and enjoy Gods creation. Gods providential hand made the way through a piece of property located in Upstate New York near the village of Redfield.
Every retreat center has its strong point. The Braes is best suited for church leaders who want to get their group away from distractions, to spend time together, and to spend time with God. The strength of the Braes is in its quiet, private location. The Braes is more than food and accommodations, we see it as our ministry. The Braes is small and personal, and our staff is ready to make you feel at home. If you are looking for a retreat location where you can get away from it all, the Braes has something for every group.
The Braes focuses on the small retreat group of 24 or less. Larger groups are possible, but less than 24 is our average retreat. Though we provide a great environment for men’s, ladies and youth retreats, we also encourage churches and ministries to think about retreats for:

The Mission of the Braes
At the Braes, we want to see Kingdom things happen, and we believe God created a place where that can happen here in Redfield, NY. We have stayed true to our desire to cater to groups that have a Christian ministry objective. We believe we should focus solely on ministry and let God take care of the details. Our desire is to see our guests come to know Jesus Christ and to grow in that relationship with Him and with each other.

Day Camp Ministry
For 39 years the Braes has offered a Day Camp Ministry for children living in the communities surrounding the Braes. This is a free camping ministry! Our desire is to share the hope of Christ with these children. Please see the Day Camp information on this site for more information.
