Directions to
High Braes Refuge
From Syracuse:
Take Hwy 81 North to the Parish exit and turn right at end of ramp. At next intersection turn left onto Route 69 (east)
to Amboy Center (9.1 miles). Turn left on Route 183 North to Williamstown (5 miles). Turn right on Route 13 for about
300 yards. Turn left onto Route 17 North and go approximately 9 miles to your first stop sign. The Reservoir will be
on the left. Go straight crossing Route 27 and go 2.1 miles on Waterbury Road to sharp curve with large stone
columns on the left side of road, this is the entrance to High Braes Refuge. The Braes Driveway will be the second
drive on the left after the metal bridge.
From Watertown:
Take Hwy 81 South to Adams (Exit #41). Turn left off the exit ramp onto Rt. 178 into Adams. At light turn right
(South) onto Rt. 11. Go 3/10 mile, turn left onto Co. Rt. 189 to Lorraine, about 5 miles. In Lorraine, Rt. 189 bears left,
stay straight onto Main St. for 1/10 mile, then turn right (South) onto Co. Rt. 92, which becomes Co. Rt. 1 7 when it
crosses into Oswego County. Take Co. Rt. 17 straight through Redfield, and cross the bridge over the Salmon
Reservoir. At the end of the bridge turn left onto Waterbury Road: go 2.1 miles on Waterbury Road to sharp curve
with large stone columns on the left side of road, this is the entrance to High Braes Refuge. The Braes Driveway will
be the second drive on the left after the metal bridge.
From Rome/Utica:
From the NYS Thruway (Route 90), get off at the Westmoreland Exit. Take Rt. 233 into Rome and follow signs for
Route 69 West. Take Route 69 to the town of Camden. At T-intersection turn right onto Route 13. Travel 3/10 mile.
As Route 13 bends left, turn right onto Empey Ave. (Camden Elementary School will be in front of you). 1/10 mile
beyond school bear left. The road becomes River Road. Continue 6.8 miles to T-intersection in Florence. Turn left
toward Redfield for 7.4 miles to intersection just before bridge. Turn right onto Waterbury Road go 2.1 miles on
Waterbury Road to sharp curve with large stone columns on the left side of road, this is the entrance to High Braes
Refuge. The Braes Driveway will be the second drive on the left after the metal bridge.
